    Federal

Each year, the federal government reserves a portion of its contracting dollars specifically for businesses owned by veterans. These opportunities allow veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) to expand their operations while contributing to projects of national significance. Additionally, eligible veteran-owned businesses may acquire surplus federal property, offering further avenues for growth. To access these opportunities, businesses must register with the System for Award Management (SAM). This critical step ensures your business is visible to federal agencies and eligible to compete for contracts.

    Federal contracts offer unique advantages:

Nationwide Impact: These contracts connect businesses to high-profile projects across the country, amplifying visibility and influence.

High Standards: Governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), federal contracts ensure fairness and maintain rigorous quality standards.

Diverse Opportunities: Federal agencies require services across various sectors, offering opportunities for businesses of all types to find their niche.

    The 8(a) Business Development Program

The 8(a) Business Development Program, established under Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act and administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), is a key resource for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses.

Program benefits include access to sole-source and competitive set-aside federal contracts. Sole-source contracts can reach up to $7 million for manufacturing NAICS codes and $4.5 million for other acquisitions, with higher thresholds requiring agency-specific approvals

Bisoft is preparing for enrollment in the 8(a) program and is working to meet the eligibility criteria.

    GSA (General Services Administration)

GSA Certification signifies that a business has been awarded a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule Contract under the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) Program. While not tied to specific purchases, this certification provides a "license to hunt," streamlining the process for federal agencies to procure goods and services from certified businesses.

By securing GSA Certification, businesses gain pre-negotiated terms, including pricing, delivery, and warranties, which simplify the federal acquisition process. This pre-screening assures government buyers of the contractor’s credibility and reduces risks, positioning the certified business as a trusted partner.

Federal buyers often prefer GSA-certified vendors due to their reduced administrative burden, as much of the purchase order process is pre-completed. Additionally, certification provides access to exclusive GSA platforms such as GSA Advantage!GSA E-Buy, and GSA Reverse Auctions, making it easier for buyers to locate and engage with certified businesses.
